Hey everyone! This is more of an introductory post than anything.
When people come to this site they may think, ‘ThePechinator?’ What’s that? It’s a nickname that a lot of my friends have given me, and I like the ring to it so I decided to use it as my online alias. I’m planning to have this blog focus, or rather, have a lack of focus, covering issues ranging from anime, games, food, tech, and things about life in general.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself: I’m a recent graduate whose hobbies are anime, games, food, and tech (surprise, surprise). I have a few other ‘hidden’ talents that you may witness over time. Creatively, I like comparing a lot of my daily activities to things I experience through fiction. Being laid back yet focused on goals is the name of my game. As a kid, I played a lot of ‘oldschool’ RPGs like Breath of Fire (a personal favorite of mine), Lufia, and the perhaps well-known Final Fantasy series. Other favorites include Grandia, Lunar, Zelda (both the game and princess), Megaman, Fire Emblem, and the Tales series (i.e. Tales of Symphonia, Abyss, Destiny). I’ll stop there. I plan to talk about my takes on those different games and more, just going over what I love so much about them.
As for anime, I like a whole variety. If the story and characters are good, then I’m down with it. I started watching dubs of Sailor Moon, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Cowboy Bebop on Cartoon Network… then it just grew. It was around sophomore year in college when a friend introduced me to the world of anime subs. This year I’ve dived into manga, reading things like History’s Strongest Disciple Kenichi, Negima!, and One Piece. As for more animated shows, some favorites are the three mentioned along with Kekkaishi, Hajime no Ippo, Slayers, Tsubasa, Fate/Stay Night, Allison to Lillia, Kenshin, and Kemono no Souja Erin. I’m not a high or low profile show kind of person… if it has a good story and characters, I’ll watch it.
Right now I work as a web developer for a startup. It’s brushed me against some interesting technologies like Flex, Actionscript, Ruby, and Ruby on Rails. I started off as an intern and moved up to their VP of Tech. It’s been a good experience. I picked up a lot of stuff I wouldn’t have otherwise learned in school, like database servers and user interface design. This layout is reminiscent of the look from our main site. I know it may be difficult to read for some, but I sort of like having the transparency effect with a beautiful background. Let me know if you find it too distracting. If I get a lot of complaints then I may do a revamp. The thing about having a background image is that it allows me to easily customize the atmosphere of this place by just swapping out a different image. If it’s summer, I can put in something summer-related and if it’s winter, then likewise. Actually, I welcome any feedback that you may have, so don’t be afraid to speak up. Just try to make it constructive.
Lastly, perhaps the one thing I look forward to quite often is food! Don’t get me wrong, I’m sort of a health fanatic and don’t like to ingest my stomach with too much grease on a consistent basis, but take me to a buffet and I’ll go on a rampage. I don’t often go out though… I like to save money (and my health) by cooking meals at home. A lot of dishes I make come from the master chef of the family: mom :). Some of my favorite dishes are Thai-infused mainly because that’s my family’s background, so I may post pointers on how to make some of my favorites which are ‘Phad Thai’ and ‘Pad See Ew.’
Well, there you go. That’s a summary of things you can expect to see on this blog. But! There may be a few creative surprises in store for you. Stay tuned.
Thanks for reading!
